The "I'll get the next one" illusion.
We've all been there. You pay for the $20 Uber today, and your friend promises to get the next one. Tomorrow, they buy you a $5 coffee. Technically, you took turns paying.
Relying on memory or messy group chats to track this leads to silent resentment or awkward conversations. Even fixes this by replacing guesswork with a simple, continuous balance.
Group Chat
"Hey, I paid $25 for pizzas. Alex paid $12 for drinks. Everyone owes me $6.25 and Alex $3, except Sarah..."

Frequently asked questions
Is Even really free?
Yes, Even is completely free to use. We believe tracking shared expenses shouldn't cost you money. We may introduce premium power-user features in the future, but the core balance tracking will always remain free.
How is Even different from Splitwise?
While other apps focus on exact group settlements and complicated debt simplification, Even focuses on a continuous, running balance between individuals. It's designed to encourage you to simply "get the next one" rather than constantly executing micro-transfers.
Does Even handle the actual money transfers?
No, Even is purely a ledger. It keeps the math perfect. When you do decide the gap is too large and you want to settle up, you can use your preferred payment method (Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle) and then log a "Settlement" in Even to return the balance to zero.
Do my friends need to download the app too?
It works best when they do, as changes sync instantly between your devices. However, you can easily use Even in "solo mode" to track a tab locally on your phone if your friends don't want to install another app.
